Update - From one affected IXP with a down RS, we got the following email by now:
"Equinix IBX Site Staff reports that on 15-AUG-2026 at 04:41 Site Local Time, a leak was identified on a pipe serving a Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) unit, affecting cooling operations throughout the facility. The initial leak has been isolated. Fire system and chiller vendors have arrived onsite and are supporting restoration efforts. The chilled water temperature has stabilised. IBX Critical Facility Engineers and vendors continue restoration efforts to identify and resolve the chilled water leak affecting Level 2. Temporary cooling units have been deployed to support cooling efforts and additional units are being delivered to the site. Chillers 7, 8, and 9 are online and supporting cooling recovery on the third floor. Teams are progressing with a plan to incrementally restore cooling to the affected second floor (Module 215), whilst also confirming the location of the leak, under a controlled sequence of works. Mobile dehumidifiers have been deployed to reduce humidity levels, and water is being removed from the affected areas. The water mist fire suppression system activated at Level 3 in Modules 315 and 320 and was subsequently isolated. Currently, the building fire protection system is offline, and investigation is ongoing. Elevator service has been restored; however, access to customer equipment remains restricted for safety reasons. During restoration activities, an additional water leak was identified and subsequently isolated. The investigation into the source of the leak remains ongoing."

Update - Since the issue is still ongoing, with certain networks continuing to experience packet loss or remaining offline, we will re-evaluate the reconnection of affected peers at a later time.
Please note that aurologic services have not been directly impacted by this incident. The observed impact affects third-party networks and peering infrastructure carrying traffic through Equinix FR5, where a cooling outage occurred across multiple parts of the facility following a leak in the chilled-water system.
aurologic maintains its presence at Equinix FR7, a separate facility. However, we maintain numerous peering connections with networks present at FR5, which explains the indirect impact on certain routes and peers. We operate our own dark fiber ring across the Frankfurt metro area, allowing us to shift traffic between sites as necessary.
If you observe unusual routing paths, packet loss, or any other impact, please open a support ticket so we can investigate.

Monitoring - We're receiving reports about other network operators, especially internet exchange members, struggling with an ongoing incident at Equinix FR5 impacting cooling at the said site. Equinix FR5 is ex Ancotel and one of the best connected datacenters in Europe.
Albeit we are not directly present at Equinix FR5, some aurologic connectivity is backhauled through Equinix FR5. In order to mitigate the issue, we have forced shutdown relevant internet exchanges until the facility level issue has been resolved.
Traffic is rerouted through other points of presence. Passively routed darkfiber links remain operational. Current state/update from Equinix:
